I'm going to assume that the "informing" was Sirius.  I'm not going to defend whatever he said- believe it or not, I actually don't like taking sides between the two of you.  For the record, however, I do not think you owe me any of these apologies that you seem so keen on giving.  You're good at plenty of other things aside from making situations difficult.  Yes, sometimes you do do just that, but Gryffindor (and/or red-headed) stubbornness is to be expected, by now.  Yes, sometimes I think you need to undwind a bit, but I try to understand your reasons all the same.

You are, and always have been, one of the single most brilliant witches I've ever known, Lily.  I don't know how you can think you've failed at being better every day, when no other student at Hogwarts can hold a candle to you.

Thank you for believing that I'm trying, because I am.  Every day.  Maybe it isn't as obvious to you or to anyone else, but it's there, and someday you'll see it.  Probably long after we've finished schooling and you've put me out of mind for years, you'll look back and realize I wasn't all that bad, but better late than never, I suppose.

Cheers to everyone who came out for Sirius' party on Friday!  It was a brilliant time.  Professor McGonagall even stopped me after Hogsmeade on Saturday to tell me that she hadn't heard a single complaint from any of the portraits, ghosts, or house elves about our behavior.  That we had, as promised, conducted ourselves with peaceful, well-mannered, frivolity.  Knew I liked her.  She believes me when I say-
